EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville softball team will wrap up its three-game series with Missouri Valley Conference opponent Southern Illinois on Thursday in a single-game at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Ill. at 4 p.m.
The Salukis took the first two games of the series at Cooper Stadium back in March by scoring three runs in the eighth inning for a 3-0 win in the first game and scoring the winning run on a solo home run by Jayme Wamsley in the second game.
The Aces are coming off a split with Middle Tennessee State this week in non-conference action. The Blue Raiders shut out the Aces, 4-0, in the first game, but the Aces took the nightcap in a 12-inning contest that ended with a double by Kylie Wagner to plate the winning run for the Aces.
Wagner now leads the team hitting .366 with seven doubles and 21 RBI. She carries a nine-game hit streak into Thursday’s game. During the streak, she is hitting .581 with four home runs and 10 RBI while posting a slugging percentage of 1.032 and an on-base percentage of .629.
The Salukis will end a six-game road schedule this week after their two games at Saint Louis University on Wednesday. The Salukis are 26-10 and dropped out of the national rankings for the first time since early February. They are led by Chelsea Held at the plate, batting .369 with four home runs and 17 RBI. Katie McNamara continues to have one of the lowest ERA’s in the conference at .96 while posting a 8-2 record.
The Aces (11-28, 2-14) will wrap up their conference road schedule this weekend at Indiana State for a three game series. All of the Aces’ games this week can be hear live on 91.5-F.M. WUEV.
