EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville softball team will make its last road trip of the regular season as the Aces travel to Indiana State for a three-game weekend series. The Aces and Sycamores will meet in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Saturday and a single-game on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The two teams are vying for a place at the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Sycamores enter the weekend at 14-22 with a 6-11 conference record while the Aces are 12-28 and 3-14 in the conference.
The Aces are coming off a win over Southern Illinois on Thursday in Carbondale, Ill. The Aces got a three-run home run from Kylie Wagner and a solo shot from Krista Price en route to the 8-2 win. In the game, Wagner extended her hitting streak to 10 games while Price came within one of the career lead at UE for home runs at 23.
The Sycamores are fresh off of a 4-1 win over Illinois State on Wednesday. Indiana State’s Darcy Wood held the Redbirds hitless through six innings and the MVC batting leader Katie Armour had three RBI in the win. Armour leads the team and the league in average at .420 with 11 doubles and 33 RBI.
All three of this weekend’s games can be heard live on 91.5-F.M. WUEV. The Aces will return to Evansville following the series for their last five games of the regular season.
