One week into pre-season training, the University of Evansville men's soccer team will go on public display for the first time with a Purple-White scrimmage Saturday at 5:00 CDT at UE's Black Beauty Field. Admission is free, and there will be an autograph session immediately afterward. UE soccer posters will be given out to all in attendance. In addition, former University of Evansville players will play an alumni match beginning at 6:30.

“The Purple/White game is a great opportunity for us to get a dress rehersal for our team," said Coach Mike Jacobs. "Be it our new players getting the chance to don an Aces uniform for the first time, or to offer a fitness component that would be comparable to a regular season match, it should be a positive measuring stick for our coaching staff. Having our Alumni Game following is a tremendous opportunity to allow former Aces standouts to return to campus and to connect with our current team.”

Following Saturday's activities, Jacobs' squad plays defending Big 10 champion Michigan State Thursday in an exhibition match at Ft. Wayne, Ind. The regular season opener is Sept. 1 at home against SIU Edwardsville.

The Aces are ranked #37 nationally in the Soccer Times.com pre-season national poll, released today. UE opponents in the Soccer Times rankings include #4 North Carolina, #5 Creighton, #7 Indiana, #20 Michigan State and #26 Drake.

In addition, UE's Gavin Chura was named today to the College Soccer News '100 Freshmen to Keep An Eye On' list. This is the third consecutive year in which an Evansville freshman has been acknowledged among the top incoming players in the country. Robby Lynch was chosen in 2007, and Phil Boerger in 2008.
