Junior forward Tom Irvin scored twice and assisted on the third goal Saturday to give Purple a 3-0 win over White in the University of Evansville soccer scrimmage at Black Beauty Field.  

Saturday's 60-minute match was the first public appearance of the season for Coach Mike Jacobs' squad, and the final one before Thursday's pre-season match at Fort Wayne, Ind. against defending Big 10 champion Michigan State.  The regular season begins Sept. 1 with a home match against SIU Edwardsville.

After a scoreless first half, Purple played the second half one man down against White but still managed to score three goals.  Irvin put in the first one at 32:33 with a shot from 12 yards out on the right side.  Ten minutes later, Irvin made a long throw-in that Jarrett Robbins brushed with his shoulder and re-directed to the back of the net.  The final tally came at 47:41 when Irvin flicked in Blake Schneider's corner kick.
