The athletic training education program (ATEP) at the University of Evansville is pleased to announce its re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
CAATE recently granted re-accreditation to UE’s program, good through August 7, 2019. The ten-year accreditation status is the maximum number of years CAATE allows before requiring a review. The program initially received accredited in October 2003.
“Everyone involved with the UE athletic training education program is extremely pleased with the news that we have, once again, been accredited by CAATE,” said Jeff Tilly, UE assistant professor of exercise and sports science and director of the athletic training education program. “Everyone involved in this program is committed to creating a high quality of education for our students in athletic training and in preparing them to be highly-qualified athletic training professionals.
“This accreditation is a validation from CAATE that we are achieving those goals and will continue to do so for the next decade and beyond.”
Among the UE program’s strengths listed by the accreditation board were:
• “The educational culture among all individuals at the University of Evansville is extremely positive and uplifting. The family environment was routinely noted as a strength during interviews by students, faculty, staff, approved clinical instructor's (ACI's) and administrators."
• "The utilization of several area high schools to provide a football experience to the ATEP students was noted by all students as an invaluable learning experience."
• "The program director and the program faculty should be commended for their efforts in the development of the Athletic Training Education Program. It is evident they are all well respected by all of those involved in the program based on our interviews of administration, faculty, staff and students of the University of Evansville"
• "The ability of the ATEP to provide a Gross Anatomy Lab to the students is exciting and something that very few ATEP are able to offer."
