The University of Evansville softball team opened up its first fall games Saturday with a 7-5 win over Olney Community College and a 1-1 tie against Southern Indiana at James and Dorothy Cooper Stadium.
The Aces’ contest against USI ended in the eighth inning due to weather.
“I definitely saw some good things,” said Evansville head coach Mark Redburn. “We need to make some adjustments at the plate. We can’t take the same swings. Defensively, we played well and were very solid. Besides one inning, we didn’t hurt ourselves. I also thought our pitchers played really well.
“We are young and new at this, but it’s early so we will keep working.”
The Purple Aces return to Cooper Stadium Saturday, October 3 against Missouri-St. Louis and Chattanooga Community College at noon and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
