University of Evansville midfielder Robby Lynch is known for his leaping ability.  In Wednesday night's 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference victory over SIU Edwardsville, he didn't have to get off the ground to use his head. Lynch headed in the night's lone goal from teammate Blake Schneider's long direct kick at 53:52 to improve Evansville's record to 5-6-1, 1-1-0 in the MVC.  The Cougars, who had not lost in their last five matches, are now 6-5-1 and also 1-1 in the Valley.

"Ninety percent of the time it's the service that makes the play," Lynch said about his goal.  "Hats off to Blake for sending the ball right to me. I didn't do much of anything except direct the ball toward the goal. I feel like we've turned things around.  We've come together more as a team, and we're united for the same goal the rest of the season."

Lynch's header at the far post came at a great time, ending a five-match Evansville losing streak as the Aces prepare for 11th ranked Creighton Saturday night.  UE is now 4-1-1 at home this season.

The Aces limited SIUE to just four shots overall and only one on goal despite seven corner kicks by the Cougars in the second half.  Evansville took 12 shots in the match, including four from Lynch and three from Tom Irvin.  Sophomore goalkeeper Robert Randant made his second start in the last three matches, and collected his first career shutout.  He made one save.  SIUE keeper Nick Collico finished with three saves.
