UE is back on the road Wednesday, trying to end Missouri State's long unbeaten streak against MVC teams.

Aces Hope To Break Bears' Streak

10/19/2010 8:12:48 PM

The last time Evansville and Missouri State met in men's soccer, the Aces knocked off the Missouri Valley Conference champions 2-1 in the semifinals of the State Farm MVC Tournament last November at Des Moines, Iowa.

That's been the only loss in the Bears' last 11 matches against league teams.  MSU has gone undefeated in 10 consecutive MVC regular season matches, and they'll try to make it 11 Wednesday night at Springfield, where the Aces and Bears renew their series with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.  Missouri State is just 4-5-2 overall, but 2-0-1 in the Valley and third in the league behind Creighton and Drake.  Evansville is 5-7-1 overall and fifth in the eight-team league at 1-2.

Coach Mike Jacobs' side broke a six-game winless streak last Wednesday at home with a 1-0 win over SIU Edwardsville before dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to nationally ranked Creighton Saturday.  UE will be without senior Tom Irvin tomorrow.  He was red carded in the 13th minute against the Bluejays.  Despite playing 10 on 11, the Aces took a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute on a goal from Mike Luttrull before Creighton came back to tie the match 20 minutes later and then win it five minutes into the first overtime.
