Plenty of University of Evansville soccer fans are expected to be in attendance Tuesday when the Purple Aces (4-4-1) take on the 14th ranked Butler Bulldogs (8-0-0) at 3:00 CDT at Butler Bowl.
Seven UE players are from central Indiana, including Avon High School products
Mike Luttrull,
Tyler Kincaid and
Trevor Schmidt, Carmel graduates
Robby Lynch and
Aaron Henkle, Fishers High School grad
Alex Kapsalis and New Palestine's
Justin Sass.
The Aces will be trying to figure out a way to bust through a Butler defense that has allowed only three goals this season. The Bulldogs' latest shutout came in their most recent match, last Friday in a 1-0 overtime victory against Valparaiso. Evansville has not played since last Wednesday's 1-0 loss at #24 Indiana in which the Aces outshot the Hoosiers 12-9.
Butler is the fourth nationally ranked opponent that the Aces have played this season, joining Washington, Portland and Indiana.
"Successful teams are able to go on the road and get a favorable result, and that's what we are presented with against a very good Butler team," said UE Coach Mike Jacobs. "We take a lot of pride in rising to the occasion of taking on top teams, and I know that our team is up for the challenge."
