University of Evansville swimmer Alex Seward was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office today. The announcement marks the second time that UE has won the award since the men’s swimming and diving team joined the league last year.
In last week’s dual meet against Eastern Illinois, Seward finished with a first place time in all three of his individual events. His time of 49.96 in the 100-butterfly is currently the fastest finish in the MAC and was just split seconds away from beating the UE record of 49.22. Seward was also a part of the second place 400-freestyle relay team.
With senior Andy Balczo earning the award two weeks ago, Evansville swimmers have now taken the title twice out of the three weeks that it has been awarded this season.
