The University of Evansville's four-game homestand concludes Thursday night at Roberts Stadium with a 7:05 CST game against the Spartans of Norfolk State University, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

This will be the second meeting between UE and Norfolk State.  Evansville won the first, 80-71 on Dec. 22, 2007 at Roberts Stadium behind the 24 points of Jason Holsinger and 15 from Shy Ely.  Three current Aces played in that game.  Pieter van Tongeren started at center, and totaled seven points and five rebounds.  Clint Hopf came off the bench to score four points, and Kavon Lacey made one assist in three minutes off the bench.  No one on the current Norfolk State roster played in the game here.

Norfolk State nearly upset Virginia on Monday, losing 50-49 at Charlottesville on a tip-in with three seconds to play.  Senior Rob Hampton (15.9 ppg) and junior Kyle O’Quinn (14.7, 11.7 rpg) are Norfolk State’s top players. Radford transfer Chris McEachin scored 11 points Monday in his first game as a Spartan.

For the first time this season, Evansville put five players in double figures in Saturday's 81-79 win over Middle Tennessee: Colt Ryan (22), Kenneth Harris (13), Clint Hopf (12), Jordan Jahr (10) and Kavon Lacey (10).  Lacey was the last to reach 10, scoring the winning basket with 2.8 seconds to play.

Junior forward Kenneth Harris was chosen Monday as Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after scoring 13 points and pulling down a team-high seven rebounds in the win over Middle Tennessee.  Harris hit four of six shots and all five free throws.  The 6'6 native of St. Louis, Mo. is in his first year at Evansville after playing the past two years at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill.

Colt Ryan climbed back over 50 percent in 3-point accuracy for the season by hitting five of six in Saturday's win over Middle Tennessee.  Ryan is now 26-for-50 this season for 52 percent accuracy, second best in the Valley behind Wichita State's David Kyles (53.6).  Kyles ranks #3 in the nation in 3-point accuracy; Ryan is #5.

Two consecutive wins have guaranteed Evansville a .500 or better record going into conference play for the sixth consecutive season.  Thursday’s game is the final one for 5-4 UE before embarking on MVC games, beginning Dec. 29 at pre-season favorite Wichita State.
