OMAHA, Neb. -- Evansville's 7-for-10 three-point shooting in the first half Wednesday night put the Aces up by 10, but Creighton put an end to UE's upset hopes with its own hot hand in the second half.  The Bluejays outscored the Aces 15-2 to begin the second half, hit 15 of their first 21 shots, and went on to top the Aces 84-71 despite a career high 31 points from Colt Ryan.

The Bluejays hit 28 of their 42 shots for 67 percent accuracy, the best shooting percentage by an Evansville opponent this season.

After Creighton scored the first seven points of the game, Evansville roared back and outscored the Bluejays 33-16 to go up by 10 at 33-23 on Denver Holmes' three-pointer.  It was Evansville's seventh three of the first half in eight attempts.

But the Bluejays weren't ready for their Wednesday night home winning streak (now at 35) to come to an end.  Creighton outscored Evansville 15-2 to begin the second half to go up 47-40 with 16 minutes to play, and never let its lead go lower than five points the rest of the way as the Jays improved to 12-11 overall and 7-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference.  Evansville is now 6-16 and 0-12.

"Our poise, our cutting and screening, our decision making, were really good in the first half," said Coach Marty Simmons, "but we did not value the basketball nearly as well in the second half."

Ryan hit 10 of 20 shots, including 5 of 9 from three-point range.  His previous career high of 26 also came against Creighton.  Ned Cox added 12 points and Clint Hopf 10.

The Aces are back home at Roberts Stadium Saturday for a 4:05 CST game against the Bradley Braves.  All $13 tickets are just $8, and fans can buy hot dogs, Pepsi products and popcorn for just $1 each.
