We offer our sincerest apologies on a two-week delay. We’ve gotten several requests, and quite frankly some demanding fanmail, about when our next post would be. Apparently our Spring Break state of mind has affected our work flow, and we just now found the time to sit down and recap what’s been happening. Since we have so much to cover, we’re going to switch up the formats and hit you with a quick shot of the
UE Softball’s Top Ten of the past two weeks.
UE Softball’s Top Ten of Spring Break
1. Taking full advantage of “sarcasm time” on a daily basis, including all the puns, innuendoes and high-quality sass that we have in us.
2. The entire sophomore class turnin’ on their swag and dropping bombs like it’s their job. Extra props to Amy Gaertner who is currently in the lead of the home run race.
3. Our 6-4 victory over nationally-recognized Lipscomb, snapping their 17-game winning streak. Own that, Bisons!
4. Roadtripping all weekend in a utility van, which we insisted on referring to as “The Swagger-Wagon,” despite Coach Redburn’s skepticism.
5. Quality time spent at our team dinners during Spring Break!
6. Our team trip to the movie theater to watch Shutter Island. Our review: B+, Definitely a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it’s not as scary as it seems in the previews.
7. Coincidentally running into pretty much the whole team at the mall on our off-day. Apparently the rest of the team is dealing with the same shopping addiction that we are suffering from!
8. Transforming ourselves into bleaching/painting/landscaping fools as we tackled the spring-cleaning chores of the field and locker room. Hey, we’ll take cleaning over conditioning any day.
9. Spending our nights watching SNL’s Best of Will Ferrell. In our 22 years on Earth, we have yet to meet anybody that doesn’t need more cowbell (except for Ashley Elber, who might actually hate cowbells).
10. Allison Aguilera’s poor charade performances at team lunches. It’s pretty safe to say that nobody’s holding their breath for any Oscars in the future! (Sorry Al, but it’s our duty to tell the truth to the readers!)
We wind down our preseason schedule this week at Middle Tennessee State, and then start our conference play on Wednesday with a double header at SIU, followed by a weekend at Bradley. We have had a few bumps in our season thus far, but hopefully we’ve learned from our mistakes and will continue to capitalize on our strengths in order to come out strong for our 2010 MVC debut. We hope to see you all at the ball fields this week, and for those of you that can’t, be sure to check in with our blog for all the updates (We’re serious this time, no more spring break excuses!). Keep the comments coming, and as always, you stay hot Evansville!
