University of Evansville basketball player Monie (moe-NAY) Hudson announced Monday that he will transfer to another school for his senior year in 2010-11. He will complete the current semester at UE.
The 6’0”, 185-pound Hudson graduated from Southeastern Illinois College in 2009, and signed a national letter of intent with UE last April. A junior, he averaged 1.6 points and 0.8 rebounds for the Purple Aces this season, and played in 25 of Evansville’s 30 games. Hudson’s departure leaves the Evansville coaching staff with three open scholarships for next season’s team.
“Monie is a good kid, and he told us he wants the opportunity to get more playing time,” said head coach Marty Simmons. “We will do all we can to help find the right situation for him.”
Added Hudson, “It was a good experience for me here. I learned a lot from the coaching staff, and it’s a really good group of guys on the team, both on and off the court.”
Hudson is a 2007 graduate of Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Ky. He went on to earn all-region honors as a freshman and sophomore at Southeastern Illinois, including Region 24 Player of the Year in 2008 when SIC reached the NJCAA national quarterfinals.
