YPSILANT, Mich.—The University of Evansville men’s swimming and diving team closed out the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday with multiple high notes to add to its weekend highlights.
“I’m happy with the guys,” said Evansville head coach Rickey Perkins. “They stood up and battled. That is one thing that I have to say about them is that they are warriors. They always stand up and battle even though they know kind of the outcome. It just shows what kind of team we are and we were a really good team together this weekend.
“I’m happy with a lot of things that happened this weekend. We scored in five events this year, which is more than past years. That shows the overall improvements of the program. Now we will go back and take a few weeks off before training in the spring. We will just come back stronger next year.”
Freshman Alex Seward placed 12th in the prelims and 14th in the finals of the 200 fly. Divers Josh Fletcher and Andy Balczo also did well in the three-meter boards, as Fletcher finished 15th and Balczo placed 16th in the finals to add points to Evansville’s total.
