With Mother Nature postponing the University of Evansville softball team’s first attempt at playing Indiana University, the Aces will get their shot on Tuesday, April 13 as they travel to Bloomington for a 1 p.m. CDT doubleheader.

Last week was tough for the Aces, as UE had seven games in five days and ended the week with a win over Western Kentucky to put their overall record at 11-21 and Missouri Valley Conference at 5-9.

Sophomore Amy Gaertner had a nice week with a total of nine hits. Gaertner posted two hits in each game versus Austin Peay and one in each of the following games for a seven-game hit streak going into Tuesday. Junior Jen Stahlhut tied her season high in hits on Sunday at Illinois State, as she went 3-for-5 with a run and RBI.

Senior Jen McKee picked up her second win of the season with her complete game against WKU. McKee allowed five hits while striking out four and walking only one. As a pitching staff, the Aces have thrown the least amount of walks in the MVC this season with 69. The next closest is Wichita State with 83.

The Hoosiers (8-24) come into the matchup after splitting with Michigan State last weekend with a 6-4 win and 5-2 loss. Jennifer Glueckert leads the team with a .360 average, but Breanna Saucedo ranks first in many offensive categories, including runs (16) and hits (35). Sara Olson is a double threat for IU, as she is hitting .258 with a team-high 47 total bases and has seen 23 appearances in the circle with a 5-10 mark and 54 strikeouts this season.
