UE junior outfielder Greg Wallace also tied the Missouri Valley Conference single-season record for triples with 13 this spring.  He now shares the record with former Wichita State players P.J. Forbes (1989) and Joe Carter (1980).  Wallace’s 13 triples not only ties the MVC mark, but it currently ranks second nationally and is the fourth-highest single-season triples total on record in NCAA Division I baseball.

“This year was definitely an exciting year for our program,” said UE head coach Wes Carroll.  “We were able to experience success not only individually, but also as a team, and I feel as though the future is extremely bright for this program.

“To accomplish what we were able to this spring, and to break all of the records that we did, is a true credit to how hard the players worked not only this spring, but also during the off-season.  They put in a ton of work not only in practice, but also in the weight room, and for them to be rewarded with the type of season that we had is a great thing to see as a head coach.  It’s always nice to see hard work rewarded.

“Now, hopefully, we can continue to build off of the success that we had this season.  If our guys continue to work hard and improve in the off-season, the sky is the limit with this program.”

Evansville is scheduled to return 22 letterwinners next spring, including seven position starters led by all-Missouri Valley Conference selections Cody Fick, Greg Wallace, Eric Stamets and Nate Smith.
