University of Evansville Director of Athletics John Stanley announced on Monday the promotion of both Sarah Solinsky and Dwight Merilatt to the title of Senior Associate Athletic Director at UE.
Solinsky, who also serves as UE’s Senior Woman Administrator, is currently the Associate Athletics Director in charge of compliance and student services at Evansville. Merilatt, meanwhile, is the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. Both promotions are effective immediately.
“Both Sarah and Dwight are key members of our athletics department staff and both are very deserving of this promotion,” said Stanley. “Sarah is extremely knowledgeable about UE athletics and the NCAA rules. She has played a large role in helping assure that we are in continued compliance with the NCAA and with the academic success of our student-athletes. She also spends significant time with the student-athletes in regard to their volunteer activities.
“Dwight has a very strong background in athletic department management. He has done an excellent job in developing staff and insuring that our games and fundraising activities operate smoothly. Dwight has a very good relationship with our fan base and our internal staff.”
Solinsky came to UE in 1997 as Evansville’s Assistant Athletics Director for Business and Event Management. She earned the title of associate athletics director at Evansville in 2002, while also receiving the title of Senior Woman Administrator in 2003. Solinsky oversees all aspects of NCAA rules compliance and student-athlete services for the University of Evansville athletics department, while also providing administrative sport oversight for seven of UE’s 14 sports: men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, volleyball and tennis. She also spent the 2009-10 school year as the Missouri Valley Conference vice president/senior woman administrator and has served as a member of the MVC’s Officiating Committee and Finance Committee in the past.
Merilatt joined the UE athletics department staff as Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in 2007. He oversees many day to day functions of the athletics department, while also directing the Purple Aces Club, the official booster organization of UE athletics. Merilatt came to UE from Eastern Kentucky University, where he previously served as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Corporate Partnerships and Director of Development. He has also served as the Athletic Development Director and Executive Director of the Rams Athletic Association at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania and as General Manager of the Tampa Bay FireStix professional softball team during his athletics career.
