EVANSVILLE, Ind. – On Saturday, the UE cross country squads ran in their second home meet of the season as the women’s team took third place honors while the men finished fourth.
Kelby Jenkins set a personal best in the 5K to lead the Aces women. She bested her previous time by four seconds, finishing fifth out of 112 runners with a time of 18:24.
Lauren Zeabart placed 13
th with a time of 18:51 while
Melissa Truex took 21
st place with a time of 18:59.
Nicole Kreuzman and
Morgan Downs were the fourth and fifth UE runners, placing 32
nd and 33
rd.
Belmont grabbed four of the top eight spots in the race to win the team championship with 32 points. Southern Illinois finished second with 57 points while Evansville took third with 96. Eleven teams competed in the event.
Josh Genet was the top men’s runner for UE, grabbing eighth place out of 125 runners after posting a time of 25:46.
Cody Stein took 16
th place with a time of 26:14 while
Andrew Barrett grabbed 22
nd with a time of 26:30.
Brian Denny was the fourth Ace in the 8K, recording a 26:38.
Matt Schiffbauer of Marshall University was the top men’s runner, posting a 25:08. Southern Illinois took the team win with four of their runners finishing in the top six. The Salukis finished with 26 points, coming in ahead of IUPUI (63 points), Marshall (101) and Evansville (103).
