LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman
Gaby Fifer along with
Aleks Dzakula recorded victories as the University of Evansville women’s tennis team finished up singles play at the UK Invitational on Sunday.
Fifer grabbed the second win of her Purple Aces career, taking down Kay Kay Magi of Purdue in three sets. After topping Magi, 6-4, she fell by a 6-1 score in the second set before taking a third set supertiebreaker 11-9 win in the to take 7
th place in her flight.
Dzakula also grabbed a victory in the top flight on Sunday, defeating Alix Young of Morehead State, winning 6-3 and 6-3 to win her match.
Sunday wrapped up the three-day event for Evansville, who saw a strong weekend from
Dora Kotsiou. On Saturday, Kotsiou was victorious in her singles round and, along with
Natasha James, took a doubles victory.
Evansville will finish off the fall season next weekend as will take part in the State Farm MVC Individual Championships, which will be hosted by Northern Iowa.
