Both men's and women's squads posted a win against Eastern Illinois in a dual meet today.

Aces Swimming And Diving Defeats Panthers

Charleston, Ill.-  The University of Evansville's men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated the Eastern Illinois University Panthers.  The women's team finished 125-72 and the men's team ended 122-81.


"This was a very exciting weekend for both teams," said head coach Rickey Perkins.  "They stayed focused yesterday and went on to beat Eastern Illinois today.  I'm really proud of their performance."

The women's team took first in all but three events.  Senior Alex Howard, juniors Jill Enge and Cassy Cude and freshman Michelle Tipton finished first in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:05.26. 

Tipton also placed first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard free.  Freshman Mackenzie Powell took first in the 200- and 100-yard free.  Freshman Samantha Montgomery, senior Valerie Jones and Howard also ended the meet with a first place finish in their individual events.

For the men's team, freshman Ashton Bishop took first in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.  Freshmen Matthew Newland and Garrett Johnson, junior Alex Seward, and senior Will Spradley all won individual events throughout the meet.

Spradley, Bishop, senior Jake Harrington and junior Kyle Tiemann ended the meet with a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:15.83.

The Aces will next travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to participate in the Hilltopper Invitational on November 18.
