Game Notes

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
On Wednesday, the University of Evansville men’s basketball team will look to improve to 2-0 as it will take on the Indiana Hoosiers at 7 p.m. at the Ford Center.

The Aces opened up the 2011-12 regular season with an 80-77 overtime win against Butler on Saturday at the Ford Center. Colt Ryan led the way with a game-high 23 points and tallied six of UE’s 11 tallies in the extra period.

Facing a double-digit deficit in the second half, the Aces used a 15-2 run to get back into the contest. Regulation ended with four free throws being shot in the final second before the Aces came away with the overtime victory.

For his efforts against Butler, Colt Ryan was named MVC Player of the Week on November 14. It marked the second such award for the junior as he won the honor in December of 2010. Interestingly enough, his last award also came in a week that saw the Aces defeat Butler in overtime.

Jordan Jahr had one of the top games of his Aces career in the opener against Butler. The sophomore finished with 15 points, just one short of his career high set last season at Indiana State. In the first half, Jahr tied for the game-high with 11 points. He hit 4-of-5 shots in the opening stanza, including three treys.

Junior Lewis Jones provided a spark for Evansville in the second half against Butler. Jones scored ten of his 12 points in the second period to finish with the fifth double-digit effort of his career.

Indiana is 2-0 in 2011 following wins against Stony Brook and Chattanooga. Last time out against the Mocs, sophomore Victor Oladipo led IU with 21 points, shooting 6-9 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the charity stripe. Jodan Hulls notched 18 points while Verdell Jones III had 16.

Indiana has won all seven meetings against the Aces. Two have been played in Evansville, two in Blooming- ton and three at neutral sites. Last year, the squads met for the first time in 13 years as the Hoosiers came away with a 67-54 victory at Assembly Hall.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.  Fans attending the game are reminded that the doors will open up 90 minutes prior to tipoff.  Following the IU game, the Aces will return to action on Saturday, facing Oakland City at 2:05 p.m.
