BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The University of Evansville’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finish second and third, respectively. The women finished third with a total of 1104 points. The men’s kept their second place finish with a total of 1118.
“I think this is a great rehearsal for the conference coming up in March,” said head coach Rickey Perkins. “It went really well. Freshman Michelle Tipton really stepped up. Junior Michea Reinitz came back strong after an injury and really helped out with the relays. I’m really happy with team overall.”
For the women’s team, Tipton continued to excel with a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.20. Freshman Samantha Montgomery notched a fourth place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.67. Senior Alex Howard, Reinitz, Tipton and Montgomery took third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:32.48. On the boards, senior Ashley Altmeyer took second in the 1-meter diving with a total of 205.60 points.
For the men’s team, senior Jacob Harrington landed a third place spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 1:54.37. Sophomore Ryan Metzger took fourth behind Harrington with a time of 1:55.65. In the 100-yard freestyle, junior Kyle Tiemann placed fourth with a time of 47.78. Junior Alex Seward, sophomore Daniel Musselwhite, Harrington and Tiemann notched a third place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:10.73.
The Aces are set to compete next at Western Kentucky on December 3.
