EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Univeristy of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach
Rickey Perkins announced the early signing of two high school swimmers. Reid Mobley (Evansville, Ind. / Mount Vernon) will join the men’s team next fall while Abigail Smith (Franklin, Ind. / Franklin Community) will be added to the women’s 2012-13 roster.
“Both of these athletes are very skilled and well-rounded swimmers,” said Perkins. “I am excited to sign such quality athletes, and I am expecting them to make immediate impacts on our program.”

At Mount Vernon: Four year letterwinner for the Wildcats…two time state qualifier in the 100-backstroke and 200-IM…holds Mount Vernon’s school record in the 100-back…conference champion in four events, twice in the 100-back…won the sectional championship in 100-back in both 2010 and 2011…2010 sectional champion in the 200-IM…helped lead the Wildcats to two consecutive Big 8 conference championships…qualified for both short course and long course state meets as a swimmer for the MTV Swim Club.
Personal: Son of UE alums Blake (’97) and Lori (Dauble) (’86)…has a younger brother, Wade, and a younger sister, Lani…plans on majoring in business.
Perkins on Mobley: “Reid is one the best swimmers in this part of Indiana. He is very versatile and will be able to score in a lot of events. He will help us primarily in the backstroke and individual medley, but he has the ability to swim all events well. I feel very lucky to have someone of his caliber join our team |

At Franklin Community: Four-time letterwinnter for the Grizzly Cubs…holds the school records in the 50-free, 200-medley relay and 200-free relay…helped lead her school to a runners-up finishes for three consecutive years… member of the Mid State all-conference team…has won at least three events in the conference championships all three years at Franklin…2009 sectional champion in the 200-free relay…winner of the Top 8 in State award for 50-free as a junior…named honorary team captain as a junior and voted team MVP in 2010 and 2011…member of the Franklin Regional Swim Team.
Personal: Daughter of Gregory and Lynn Smith…has a younger brother, Eli, and an older sister, Alex…academic major is undecided.
