11/3/2011 9:03:00 PM

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Five University of Evansville women’s soccer players received All-Missouri Valley Conference honors Thursday night at the MVC pre-tournament awards ceremony on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.

Sophomore forward Breana Beine and senior defender Sam Conrad were selected to the second team, while sophomore Stephanie Thompson and junior goalkeeper Chaviel Harrison were named honorable mention. Tatiana Pagan was selected to the all-freshman team.

Beine, the MVC Freshman of the Year in 2010, has tallied three goals and an assist this fall. Conrad has piloted the Aces’ defense that has shut out the opposition in the past three matches. Thompson has found the back of the net four times this season, including the game-winner in UE’s overtime victory over Missouri State to clinch a spot in the tournament. She has also added two assists for 10 points this year. Harrison has made 133 saves this fall, ranking sixth in the nation. Entering the tournament with three straight shutouts, Harrison has not allowed a goal in the last 326:37 minutes of play.

The Purple Aces take on the regular season champions, Illinois State, in the semifinals Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT at the Cooper Family Soccer Plex. In the other semifinal match, Missouri State hosts Northern Iowa at 6:00 p.m. CT. The championship match will be played Sunday at 1:06 p.m.
