Head coach Rickey Perkins and the Aces will travel to Cleveland, Miss., this weekend to compete in the Christmas Invitational at Delta State.
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The University of Evansville’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to compete in the Christmas Invitational in Cleveland, Miss., this weekend. The Purple Aces will be facing off against Limestone, Mars Hills and host Delta State during the three-day tournament, which kicks off on Friday morning.
The Aces return to the pool after nearly a month since last competing in the Hilltopper Invitational on November 18-20, where the women's squad notched a third place while the men's team finished second.
At the Hilltopper Invitational, freshman, Michelle Tipton led the women’s team with a first place finish in the 200-yard free in 1:51.90. Seniors Alex Howard and Hannah Quast, junior Michea Reinitz and freshman Samantha Montgomery took a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.45. Tipton also placed second in the 500-yard free with a final time of 5:00.36. In the 50-yard free, Reinitz took second with a time of 24.27. On the boards, senior Ashley Altmeyer took second in the 1-meter diving with a total of 205.60 points. Junior Sadie Wells claimed the top score in the 3-meter finals, scoring 278.10.
Senior Jacob Harrington led the men’s team with a first place spot in the 200-yard free with a final time of 1:42.86. Juniors Alex Seward and Kyle Tiemann, Harrington and sophomore Daniel Musselwhite wrapped a meet with a second place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:05.76. For men’s diving, sophomore diver Mallet Reid highlighted day one for the Aces, taking the highest finish of the day with a third place score of 269.25 on the 1-meter.
