Our 2011 Winter Alumni Weekend was once again a big success.
It was great to have so many former players and coaches in attendance during the course of the weekend.
The festivities kicked off with a dinner with the coaching staff at Ri Ra on Friday night, which was a great opportunity to connect with alumni from different eras.
Saturday morning was our Alumni Indoor Tournament, which was won by Tyler Crawford, Tyler Kincaid, Mike Luttrull and Ed Moore. Following the tournament we had a meet and greet between the former and current Aces, and it was great to have the past, present and future of Aces soccer all together.
Between the Alumni Indoor Tournament and our FRIENDS OF ACES SOCCER reception at Roberts Stadium, there were a number of opportunities for our current team to meet key members of some of the great Aces' teams of the past, including Brian Adcock, Shane Barrett, Doug Diedrich, Jack Mitchell and Geoff Schmalz; as well as having Coach Schmalz there to help tie the great teams of the 80's and 90's with our younger alumni and current team.
We also announced and presented members of our FRIENDS OF ACES SOCCER program that participate at our highest giving level their appreciation gifts. Members who were present included Steve & Susan Worthington and Dr. Andy Saltzman; members who were not in attendance include Steve Church, Joe Kofron, Ken McNamara, Dan O'Donnell, Steve Page, Bill Vieth, Keith Vonderahe and Pat Wempe/ProRehab, PC. The reception is our traditional kick-off for our FRIENDS OF ACES SOCCER campaign, and we certainly appreciate the support we receive from all of our participants.
At our Friends of Aces Soccer Reception at Roberts Stadium on Saturday night, we announced our 2010 team award winners. They were:
Newcomer of the Year – Alex Kapsalis
Student-Athlete Award – Mike Luttrull
Most Improved Player – Robert Randant
Most Valuable Player (Defense) – Aaron Henkle

Our WINTER ALUMNI WEEKEND was once again a big success, and a lot of kudos need to go to Aces Associate Head Coach Marshall Ray in putting all of the plans together along with our administrative staff of Dwight Merilatt and Lance Wilkerson.
