FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW won the close sets Friday afternoon, and that helped the host Mastodons give the University of Evansville tennis team its first loss of the spring season, 5-2. Coach Nick Mueller's Aces had won three straight dual matches before Friday.
Kate Chybowski remained unbeaten in singles, beating Amy Recht 6-3, 6-3 at number one. Dora Kotsiou won for UE at three singles, 6-4, 6-3.
"Kate played very well today," said Mueller. "She had to step it up a notch against a very good opponent, and she did."
Evansville's busy weekend in Fort Wayne continues Saturday with matches against St. Francis (Pa.) and Western Michigan, followed by an early match Sunday against Chicago State before heading home.
