The University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving team lost the last dual meet of the season today at Southern Illinois. The Saluki women pulled out a 133-100 win over the Aces while the men beat the Aces 157-68.
Diver Sadie Wells swept the boards, winning the 1-meter with a score of 260.25 and the 3-meter with a score of 267.52. Alex Howard was the only UE swimmer to post a first place finish on the day. Howard won the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:00.84. Michea Reinitz and Christina Schmidgall each earned two second place times while Hannah Quast and Jenn Childers finished the meet with one second place finish.
Jake Harrington led the men’s squad, notching second place finishes in the 200-individual medley and the 500-freestyle. Colin Gray took second in the 100-breast for the men, finishing with a time of 1:01.13. Kyle Tiemann posted a time of 50.01 in the 100-freestyle to also claim a second place finish.
The Aces now set their eyes on their respective conference championships, both of which will be held in at Southern Illinois. Up first are the women, who will participate in the Missouri Valley Conference championships on February 17-19. The men will finish their season at the Mid-American Conference championships held on March 3-5.
