Colt Ryan has been chosen second team all-Missouri Valley Conference in voting done by league coaches, radio play-by-play announcers, newspaper writers and sports information directors. Of the 10 players chosen first or second team all-MVC, only Ryan and Creighton freshman Doug McDermott are not seniors or juniors.
Ryan and his Evansville teammates play Friday in the State Farm MVC Tournament quarterfinals against Indiana State at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
The 6'5" Ryan ranks first in the MVC in free throw percentage (.884), third in scoring (15.8), fourth in steals (1.3), fifth in 3-pointers per game (2.0) and ninth in 3-point percentage (.397). He is seven points away from 900 in his career.
Ryan scored a career-high 32 points Saturday in Evansville's 73-67 win over Illinois State. He has been Evansville's scoring leader in each of the last five games.
As a freshman last year, Ryan was the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman of the Year and the 2010 MVC Freshman of the Year. He was the second leading scorer in the MVC last season at 14.5 points per game, and the highest scoring freshman in Evansville history with 435 points.
