Both the men's and women's cross country teams at the University of Evansville have earned the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Award. Teams must compile a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 and participate as a full team at their respective NCAA regional championships. UE's women's team produced a 3.56 team GPA and the men had a GPA of 3.38. Both teams are coached by Don Walters, the dean of the UE coaching staff who will go into his 12th year as head coach in 2011.
"Both of my teams put in many hours training for cross country," according to Walters. "I am so proud that they never lose sight of why they are in college, and they continue to excel in the classroom as well. These young men and women are totally committed to be the best they can."
Both teams begin their spring season March 19 at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Meet.
