COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2010-11 season came to a close for three University of Evansville divers who finished day two of the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at Ohio State today.

“All and all I’m pretty happy with the meet,” said head diving coach Eric Blevins. “With a meet like this, it’s really tough to prepare mentally. Not only are you diving next to Olympians, but you have to have a totally different approach because you are waiting for thirty divers to dive ahead of you each time. So for us to be able to show up and compete is phenomenal.”

Sophomore Sadie Wells placed 45th on the 1-meter dive with a score of 199.65. Senior Jenn Childers finished her collegiate diving career with a 46th place finish and a score of 194.70. Childers and Wells beat out two Big Ten opponents, placing above Carlin Dacey (Northwestern) and Brooke Sauchak (Michigan State).

In the last 3-meter dive of his collegiate career, senior Andy Balczo posted a score of 202.65, nearly 35 points higher than his score at the 2010 Zone C Championships. Balczo finished in 38th place.

“I am extremely proud of Jenn and Andy and am very pleased with their diving careers at UE,” added Blevins. “For Sadie, the more times she competes in meets like this, the better she is going to be. I expect her to use this weekend to keep growing and improving.”
