EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Christa Ruf blasted two home runs over the centerfield wall to bat in all four of Creighton’s runs  as the Bluejays posted a 4-0 victory over the University of Evansville softball team today at Cooper Stadium.
Ruf’s first homer gave the Bluejays a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. In her next at bat, Ruf tacked on two more runs with her second blow of the game, putting Creighton up 4-0 in the top of the seventh.
Junior Maggie Little recorded the only hit for UE, belting a two-out pinch-hit double in the bottom of the seventh inning to break up the no-hitter by Creighton starter Becca Changstrom.
The Aces’ pitching staff scattered five hits over seven innings while fanning four Bluejay batters. Sophomore Kendall Kautz (2-4) took the loss in the circle, giving up four hits and two runs in 4.2 innings of work. Freshman Taylor Perry closed out the game for the Aces, giving up just one hit.
Evansville (5-17, 1-2), will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Southeast Missouri for a midweek doubleheader.
