University of Evansville senior Pieter van Tongeren was chosen today for the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team.  van Tongeren made the five-man second team, in voting done by the league's sports information directors.  Missouri State's Will Creekmore was chosen as the men's basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

van Tongeren has a dual major of communications and visual communication design, and will graduate in May.  He has a 3.23 grade point average.  A starter in all 30 games this year, the 6'10" fifth-year senior is averaging 6.1 points and 2.3 rebounds, and leads the Aces in field goal percentage at 64.6 percent.
