Miller Named Kentucky All-Star

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- University of Evansville women’s basketball signee, Juliann Miller has been named to the 2011 Girls Kentucky All-Star Team that will represent the state in the annual Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Basketball Classic.

Miller signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Evansville on November 10, 2010, and will be a part of UE’s three-man freshman class next fall, along with LeiLoni Smith (Vian, Okla./Vian), and Kourtni Taylor (Akron, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy).

Miller, a 5’8” guard from Louisville, Ky., averaged 13 points her last two seasons at Mercy Academy. As a junior, Miller led her team to a state championship, recording 23 points and eight rebounds in the title game. She led the Jaguars to the Seventh Region championship game as a senior and was named the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches’ Seventh Region Girls Player of the Year Runner Up.

The Kentucky Lions All-Star team also includes 2011 Miss Basketball Sara Hammond (Rockcastle County), Carla Booth (Clark Co.), Averee Fields (Calloway Co.), Danay Fothergill (Southwestern), Chastity Gooch (Franklin-Simpson), Natalie Greenwell (Elizabethtown), Mechael Guess (Manual), Maddie Peabody (Sacred Heart), Caprisha Rogers (Clark Co.), Kristen Stainback (Scott Co.), and Lauren Tibbs (Scott).

A two-day series, the Kentucky-Indiana High School All-Star Classic is set for June 10th at Bellarmine University’s Knights Hall in Louisville. The girls will tipoff at 5:30 p.m. immediately followed by the boys’ game. The Indiana games will follow on Saturday, June 11th at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Kentucky game is a fundraiser for the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.
