Game Recap: UE 0, MSU 7

The Bears came out swinging to start the day, managing a bases-loaded situation with one out in the bottom of the first inning. But freshman starter Taylor Perry came through with a timely strikeout before the inning ended with an infield ground out to prevent Missouri State from scoring.

The Aces answered by loading the bases themselves in the top of the second. A walk, a fielder’s choice and a Missouri State error put runners at every corner with no outs. But the inning ended with three runners stranded, as the Bears were able to find a way to retire the next three Evansville batters to end the Aces’ threat.

The Bears jumped on the board in the bottom of the second, using two hits and an Evansville error to push two runs across and take a 2-0 lead.

The Bears struck again in the bottom of the third, scoring two more runs off just one hit while taking advantage of a second UE throwing error.

Missouri State added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, extending its lead to 7-0.  The Aces held the Bears to a seven-run lead through the rest of the game, but Evansville was unable to score as Missouri State claimed the series with the win.

Perry took the loss in the circle, dropping to 4-12 on the season.

Junior Allison Aguilera ended the day 2-for-2 at the plate with a single and a double. Senior Kelci Alsip added the Aces’ only other hit of the game, notching a single in the fourth inning.
