BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On Friday, the University of Evansville cross country squads will take part in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships, which are being hosted by the University of Indiana.
Also set to take part in the all-Indiana meet are IU, Purdue, Ball State, Butler, Indiana State and Ball State. Seventeen other schools from various other collegiate levels are also set to participate.
An open race will take place at 2:30 p.m. CT before the women’s teams run a 5-K race starting at approximately 3:30. Following the women will be an 8-K men’s race starting around 5:15.
The Purple Aces ran their second meet of the season last week at the Eastern Illinois University Walt Crawford Open. Lauren Zeabart and Kelby Jenkins recorded top ten finishes to help lead the UE women to a fourth place finish with 85 points. That was just a point behind North Dakota, who tallied 84 points thanks in part to Emily Emerson, who was the top individual.
Sophomore Andrew Barrett finished his 8-K run in a time of 25:24.23 to lead the UE men’s team to a sixth place finish. Josh Genet came in with a time of 25:58 while Samuel Mires was the third Aces to cross the line with a time of 26:39.
Next weekend, the teams are scheduled to be in Carbondale, Ill. for the Saluki Invitational. The meet is set for Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m.
