PEORIA, Ill. – Freshman goalkeeper Eric Teppen tallied his second shutout of the season with a career high 10 saves, as the University of Evansville men’s soccer team routed Loyola-Chicago, 4-0, Friday evening at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic hosted by Bradley University. With the victory, the Purple Aces improve to 3-2-0 on the season, while the Ramblers fall to 1-4-1.

The Aces first struck in the 37th minute of play when junior Jesse Sharp blasted a 22-yard shot to the back left side of the net.

Evansville made it 2-0 before the end of the first half on freshman Patrick Hodges’ goal as a result of a corner kick. Classmate Joel Nash recorded the assist on the ball that came loose from the goal keeper on the corner.

With a secure 2-0 lead in the winding minutes, freshman Ryan Stallings gave Evansville two insurance goals in within 70 seconds of each other in the 88th and 89th minute of play. The first was on a breakaway on the left side with help from Sharp and sophomore Alex Kapsalis.

Stallings’ beat goalkeeper Peter McKeown, one-on-one, at the 88:43 mark with Luis Romero and Kevin Schafer tallying assists for the final score of the night.

In the contest, Loyola-Chicago narrowly outshot UE, 13-12 and 10-9 on goal, but the Aces made the most of their opportunities.
Stallings led Evansville with four shots, all on goal, while Sharp tallied three shots, two on net, in the match.

The Aces are back in action Sunday when they take on Memphis on the final day of the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic. The match is set to start at noon.
