With the 2012-13 women’s basketball season rapidly approaching, the women’s basketball staff and players wanted to give the fans a more personal and insider’s look into the upcoming season.  With that mission in mind, GoPurpleAces.com will sit down with a women’s basketball player periodically throughout the season and pose 10 questions to one of the Aces’ women’s basketball players to give you a glimpse inside the program.  For the first installment of “10 Questions With…”, senior guard Meagan Collins joined us to share her views on the upcoming season, some of her favorites and life off the court.
 
Question 1:
 The 2012-13 Aces are loaded with senior leadership, as you are one of four seniors on the squad.  What are the expectations and goals for the upcoming season?
 
Our main goal is to win the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.  We have set smaller goals along the way like being 1-0 and winning our first game.  All of these goals require focus, hard work, team work and dedication!
 
Question 2:
On or off the court, what is the best advice that you have been given?
 
Never, never give up!  Strive to be the best you can be!
 
Question 3:
Do you have a saying or motto that you live your life by?
 
Do what makes you happy!
 
Question 4:
Since you have now had three years to explore the city of Evansville, what are some of your favorite places to visit and are there any great spots that you know of that some people have not heard of before?
 
Jimmy Jeng’s Szechwan Chinese Restaurant is definitely my favorite place to visit.  It is delicious!  One of my favorite shops to go to is in Downtown Newburgh.  It is a 70’s store called Treasures and Pleasures.
 
Question 5:
What is your favorite dessert?
 
 I am a chocoholic, so any kind of chocolate works!  Chocolate chip cookies are high on my list as well.
 
Question 6:
If you could travel to one destination in your lifetime where would it be?
 
Probably Greece!
 
Question 7:
Do you speak any other languages and if not, if you could learn one, what would it be?
 
I have always wanted to learn sign language.
 
Question 8:
What was the worst outfit that your mom dressed you in?
 
In elementary school, for my school pictures, my mom dressed me in a fuzzy, and ugly, Christmas sweater with a huge red bow.
 
Question 9:
Do you have any pregame rituals?
 
An hour before the game, I relax and become mentally prepared, and I always have to drink a Gatorade before getting to the gym.
 
Question 10:
So far, what has been your best moment as a Purple Ace?
 
One of my best moments as a Purple Ace would be during my freshman year when our whole team competed in hog wrestling and mud volleyball.  My team won the hog wrestling.  It was hilarious and a great team bonding experience!
