EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both fell to Southern Illinois today at Wyttenbach Pool inside the Carson Center. The men were defeated by a final score of 149-73 while the women lost 124-119.
Abby Smith had an impressive day in the pool, claiming three first-place victories including the 200-yard medley relay with the help of teammates
Taylor Shotwell,
Jill Enge, and
Melissa Ball. Smith also won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.24 and a 53.93 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Caroline Lee grabbed a first-place victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.41 and third-place in the 200-yard individual medley.
Mackenzie Powell bested the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22:90 for a first-place win. Powell also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.62
Alex Seward led the men in today’s meet with a first-place win in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.66 as well as contributing to the second-place win in the 200-yard medley relay along with teammates
Justin Shotwell,
Troy Burger, and
Kyle Tiemann.
The Aces will now set their sights to October 26 when they take on Miami University (Ohio).
