VALLEY RELEASE

ST. LOUIS –
Sophomore goalkeeper Eric Teppen became the second University of Evansville men’s soccer player to earn Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors this season, when he was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

Teppen recorded this third-straight shutout by posting a pair of clean sheets this week in wins over SIU Edwardsville and Central Arkansas.  The Evansville, Ind., native collected four saves in the Purple Aces’ 1-0 win over SIUE Wednesday night, including a pair in the second half to stifle a late offensive flurry by the Cougars.  Teppen was also instrumental in helping UE successfully defend SIUE’s five second-half corner kicks.  Against UCA, Teppen recorded just two saves, but pulled down several crossing attempts to preserve a 1-0 victory.

Teppen and the Evansville defense have now gone 225:56 without allowing a goal and the sophomore keeper is 3-1-0 in MVC contests with three shutouts and a 0.52 goals against average.

The Aces will wrap up their non-conference slate Wednesday night in Bloomington, Ind., when they take on nationally-ranked Indiana at 7:00 p.m.
