EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville softball coach Mark Redburn has announced an Instructional Camp that will take place on Sunday, December 16.
Highlighting the camp is the UE coaching staff along with Doug Gillis, who is the Director of Coaching/Pitching at the University of Missouri.
It begins with hitting from 9:00-10:30 p.m. before stressing defense between 11:00 and 12:30 p.m. The first two parts are for attendees in grades 9-12. The final portion is devoted to pitching and is for children ages 10-18. Pitching session I is for first time attendees and is from 1-3:45 p.m. while the second session is for returning pitchers who attended the November 4th camp and will take place from 4-6:45 p.m.
The hitting section includes successful hitting philosophies and mental approaches, taking advantage of pitchers’ strengths and weaknesses and preparing for college level pitching. On the defensive side, you will learn how to throw from different angles, proper mechanics, getting lead runners out and much more.
Nationally renowned pitching instructor Doug Gillis will cover the pitching part which will include a live demo, video analysis, major fundamentals, common fallacies and what it takes to pitch at the college level.
