EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville cross country teams head to Normal, Ill. with momentum on their side as they will run in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Saturday morning.

The women get started at 10:30 a.m. before the men take to the track an hour later.  Both races will be held at Weibring Golf Club.  Last year, Illinois State won on the women’s side while the Indiana State men took their respective championship.

Evansville’s women’s squad is looking for its third-consecutive win.  The Aces took first place at the Tennessee Tech Invitational on Oct. 5 before defeating Vanderbilt for the win in the Oct. 13 UE Invitational.

Junior Kelby Jenkins has been sensational all season, picking up four wins thus far, including her previous two outings.  She set a PR at the UE Invitational as she finished in a time of 17:48.09.  Last year, she finished 25th at the MVC’s.

Freshman Elizabeth Kingshott has had a strong start to her UE career, picking up third-place finishes in the Mid-America Opener and at the Tennessee Tech Invitational.  Lauren Zeabart, who took second at Tennessee Tech, was the Aces’ top finisher last season in the MVC’s, coming in 23rd.

The men also ride a wave of momentum into the championships as Cody Stein leads the way.  Stein has recorded a top six finish in four out of UE’s six races in 2012.  He took the win in the Tennessee Tech Invitational before coming home second two weeks ago.

Sophomore Josh Genet has also been strong, registering four top-8 finishes in six races.  He led the men last season in the Valley Championships, finishing in 16th place.
