Cathy Doyle Ties For Third At Charles Braun Intercollegiate

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
In day two of the Charles Braun Intercollegiate, it was sophomore Cathy Doyle carding her second-consecutive 77 to lead the Purple Aces women’s golf team on Tuesday.
 
Doyle shot identical rounds of 77 in the event en route to a tie for third place.  Freshman Paige Crafton was second on the UE squad as her 2-round total of 165 was good enough for a 33rd-place tie.  Sydney Skiles finished two shots behind Crafton with a 167.
 
Dana Hayden tied for 57th place with her total of 173 while Kelly Lamarche carded a 180 and tied for 63rdRachel Marchi saw improvement in the second round as she was six strokes better than her Monday total.
 
Northern Iowa took top honors on both side as the Panthers finished the event with a 625 to take the team championship while Alex Zenor earned medalist honors.  UNI completed the tournament two strokes ahead of Indiana State while Eastern Kentucky took third with a 631.
 
Southern Illinois was just behind with a 632 while Butler rounded out the top five.  The University of Evansville came in ninth place with a score of 658, just a shot behind a 7th-place tie by Creighton and SIU Edwardsville.
 
Zenor shot a 75 on Monday before following that up with a 73 on Tuesday to finish with a 148.  She finished five strokes ahead of Christina Beyerl of Indiana State while Doyle, Isabella Lambert (Butler) and Rachel Welker (EKU) tied for third place.
 
The home event wraps up the fall season for the Aces.  The spring schedule will be released as soon as it is available.
