EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Purple Aces cross country teams will travel to Baxer, Tenn. to run in the Tennessee Tech Invitational on Friday.
A 5-K women’s race is set to begin a 3 p.m. with the 8-K men’s race set for 3:45 p.m. Aside from UE, Carson Newman, North Alabama, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech will run in the women’s event while those schools along with Lipscomb will participate on the men’s side.
Evansville is coming off of a strong performance in last weekend’s Greater Louisville Classic. Kelby Jenkins, this week’s MVC Scholar Athlete of the Week, earned a third place finish in the event. She set a personal record in the event, finishing in a time of 17:54.26.
Lauren Zeabart came home in 34
th with a time of 18:39.76 while Elizabeth Kingshott finished 86
th out of the 337 runners who took part.
Josh Genet was the top performer on the men’s side. He took 21
st on the strength of a 25:67.76 in the 8-K race. Finishing behind him was Cody Stein, who placed 36
th with a time of 25:44.82.
After running at Tennessee Tech, the Aces will be back in town for the annual Evansville Invitational, which is slated to begin at 11 a.m. on Oct. 13.
