Bears defeat Aces in Dual Meet

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –  The University of Evansville men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost a dual meet today at Wyttenbach Pool inside the Carson Center. The men were defeated by a final score of 145-72 while the women lost 125-112.
 
The UE women took first-place in seven different events. Abby Smith took the top spot in both the women’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.19 and the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 53.45. Smith also contributed to a first-place win in400-yard freestyle relay along with teammates Mackenzie Harris, Michelle Tipton, and Michea Reinitz. Michelle Tipton came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:56.40.  Mackenzie Powell also took a first-place win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.85.

Diver Sadie Wells swept the boards in both the women’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving with a combined score of 525.91.
 
The UE men took second-place in the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:10.26. Cameron Wickes placed second in both the men’s 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.84 and the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:47.29. Ashton Bishop won second-place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.67 as well as the 100-yard freestyle with a final time of 46.75.
 
The UE swimming and diving teams now look to bounce back when they travel to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI on November 10.
