EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville’s swimming and diving teams will return to the pool this Saturday when they take on Eastern Illinois in a dual meet. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Wyttenbach Pool inside the Carson Center.
The Aces are coming off of an impressive showing at the House of Champions Invitational. At the conclusion of the invitational, the Aces brought home wins in eleven final events. The UE women finished second with a score of 1574, while the UE men finished third with a final score of 1395.
The UE women were victorious in eight events, including both the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.53 and the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:35.59. Teammates Abby Smith, Michelle Tipton, #MicheaReinitz#, and Samantha Montgomery secured a first place win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:28.48. Tipton also took top spot in both the women’s 100-yard freestyle with a final time of 51.25 as well as the women’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.85. Diver Sadie Wells brought home wins in the both the women’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
The UE men secured first place wins in three final events. #Alex Seward# claimed first in the men’s 100-Yard Butterfly clocking in at 50.25. Troy Burger placed first in the men’s 400-yard individual medley with a 4:09.68. Ashton Bishop won the top spot in the men’s 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 21.38.
After Saturday’s meet with Eastern Illinois, the UE men will return to action on January 11 when they take on Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Kentucky. The UE women will travel to Nashville on January 12 to face Vanderbilt.
