EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Purple Aces student-athletes utilized donations and cookbook sales in order to make purchase presents for local children in need.
 
UE student-athletes collected $2,200 from donations and cookbook sales in order to buy presents to donate to children this Christmas season.  The Toys for Tots collection is an annual event. The athletes delivered the toys to the Old National Bank branch at Weinbach and Lincoln Avenue, which is a collection site for the Toys for Tots program.
 
Assisting the students were Purple Santa, Ace Purple, Buddy the Elf, and the Gingerbread Man.
 
Several student-athletes also took part in the Missouri Valley Conference’s 7^th Annual Just Read program, which consists of them going out to local schools to read to students.  This was done to promote reading at an early ago for students while stimulating educational growth.
