EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Beginning on Friday, the Purple Aces women’s tennis team will host a pair of weekend matches as Butler and Eastern Illinois come to the Tri-State Athletic Club this weekend.
Butler is the first opponent, coming to town on Friday evening before Eastern Illinois takes its turn against the Aces on Saturday. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
Evansville stands at 4-3 following a pair of matches last weekend, most recently falling at Kentucky last Saturday. The doubles tandem of
Dora Kotsiou and
Natasha James lead the way as they are 6-1 on the season.
Aleks Dzakula and
Jessica Raatz have also been impressive in doubles action, going 5-2.
In singles, Dzakula and James are 5-2 on the season while freshman
Gaby Fifer is 4-2.
Butler is 2-5 this spring and has fallen in their last two contests against Xavier and Memphis. The Bulldogs’ wins have come on the road at Dayton and Indianapolis. Eastern Illinois enters the weekend with a 2-4 record and has also fallen in their last two outings.
Last weekend, the Panthers dropped a road match as IPFW by a final of 4-3. Their wins came over Dayton and Southern Illinois.
The Aces will be back on the road next weekend, taking on SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday March 3.
