EVANSVILLE, Ind. – On Friday, the University of Evansville women’s tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Butler at the Tri-State Athletic Club.
With the win, the Purple Aces are 5-3 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 2-6.
Evansville took two out of three doubles matches to take the point.
Emily Richardson and
Kelsey Costales picked up an 8-1 win over Brittany Farmer and Ashley Breitenbach at the No. 2 spot while
Aleks Dzakula and
Jessica Raatz grabbed an 8-1 win over Kahfii King and Kate Panawash. In the one slot, Stephanie McLoughlin and Gabrielle Rubenstein topped
Dora Kotsiou and
Natasha James by an 8-4 mark.
In singles play, the Aces won four out of six matches as Kotsiou topped McLoughlin (6-1, 6-4), Dzakula downed Rubenstein (7-6, 4-6, 6-1), James picked up a victory over Farmer (6-4, 6-1) and Gaby Fifer picked up a three-set win over Laura Shull (3-6, 6-0, 6-1)
Richardson and
Mina Milovic fell in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
On Saturday, Evansville will play host to Eastern Illinois. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Tri-State Athletic Club.
